PVA: The Personal Vision Assistant

"sometimes simpler is much better"

PVA’s simplicity has made it popular with seniors. It is easy to operate and not intimidating to the patient. It has been the most successful system we have dispensed to macular degeneration patients.

It is lightweight and transportable. It can be connected to your own television.

PVA has full color, white on black and black on white contrast. It is 350,000 pixel camera with over 110X magnification possible on a 20 inch TV.

Magnification Possible

13 inch Television = up to 52X magnification

20 inch Television = up to 82X magnification

26 inch Television = up to 105X magnification

The camera comes with a mirror attachment that allows the patient to see their own face to put on makeup or shave or to see the face of others.
"Now I can check my makeup before I go out."

PVA has  auto focus and a bumper on the XY table that holds reading material straight. Margin locks allow easy reading of columns of print.  As an alternative to the XY table, each unit comes with a clamp to allow it to be mounted directly on a work desk or over a sewing machine.

A small control module can sit on either side of the table to allow easy push button changes in magnification and contrast. Even arthritic hands can use these simple push buttons.

It’s transportable! The camera arm detaches easily and comes with a plain black carrying case that allows the owner to take it easily with them to a new location. Those patients wintering in another location can easily take it with them.

The Video plug is colored coded yellow to match the yellow video port on the television.
PVA attached to the yellow Video AV  port found on most television. The television should be set the the video channel which is just below channel two.
PVA can be attached to any television monitor. Televisions without AV ports will require the use of an RF modulator, which cost less than $30 and is available at any Radio Shack (Part number 15-1244).

The back of the RF modulator allows connection to the coaxial cable connection.  The RF Modulator is only  required if you connect to a TV without AV ports.

Patients may use or obtain their own television. Here the PVA is connected to a 25 inch television.

TWe recommend a 19-inch or larger television. Profoundly impaired patients may prefer a 25 or 27inch television monitor.

PVA comes with a two year warranty.

We offer PVA with a 60-day trial period in which the system may be returned for a full credit minus the initial shipping charges. All shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser.
