Pico: New Portable CCTV from Telesensory

Download Pico Fact Sheet in PDF File

Over the last 6 months, many new pocket-sized video magnifiers have been developed to help the visually impaired. Video magnification provides both enlargement and enhanced contrast. This can be crucial for many low vision patients as they are able to read much easier with white letters on a black background. In this respect, video magnification can be better than simple optical magnification and can allow the patient a greater working distance. These new portable CCTVs can help patients read bills, receipts, menus, price tags, medicine bottles, instructions, etc. They can help in writing and signing checks, and making quick notes.
The Pico system, which has just been released, has fold down legs to help when writing and for extended use. It also can be used while charging and comes with a car adapter for reading in the car. Each of these new systems helps many patients with activities of daily living and helps them to maintain their independence
