Joins Our Practice
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Laura K. Windsor, daughter of our senior associate, Dr. Richard L. Windsor, has joined our practice. Dr. Windsor received her Doctorate of Optometry from the
Indiana University School of Optometry, where she received the Essilor "Award of Excellence", given to an outstanding student in her graduating class and the Varilux Award for an outstanding clinical paper. In June 2001 at the American Optometric Association annual meeting in Boston, she received the National Essilor Award in a competition among students at all sixteen schools of optometry. She has served as vice-president of the Indiana University Optometric Student Association and was honored with a special award for her multiple contributions to the I.U. School of Optometry.
She previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from Indiana University and she is a graduate of the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities at Ball State University. Dr. Windsor trained in low vision care at the Indiana University Indianapolis Eye Care Center and the Low Vision Centers of Indiana. She completed neuro-ophthalmic, retinal, corneal, glaucoma and cataract training at the Muncie Eye Center and Indiana University Eye Care Centers.
Dr. Windsor has published articles on low vision rehabilitation and is currently co-authoring a book chapter on the low vision considerations in brain injury. She co-authors a quarterly column on low vision for Vision Enhancement Magazine with her father.
Dr. Windsor has received acclaim for her application of Internet technology to optometry. She designed the Future Optometrists web site, a national resource for optometric students. She has just completed work on the glaucoma website for Indiana University. She also co-authored a national gold medal award-winning article on the application of the Internet to optometry. She is also webmaster of the Indiana Optometric Association web site.
Dr. Laura K. Windsor is available to provide low vision care for all ages from infants to seniors. She also specializes in the treatment of vision problems related to stroke and traumatic brain injury patients. Driving with low vision is an area of emphasis in her practice.
