Key Projects

Dr. and Mrs. Windsor have five children. Three are adopted handicapped children. These include children with cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome and mental retardation.

1974: Dr. Windsor and Dr. Scott developed a course on Ocular Pharmacology and traveled throughout Indiana to upgrade the use of pharmaceuticals by doctors of optometry,

1973: Developed a program to provide eyecare to nursing home residents. Today this program has grown to 47 facilities which serve over five thousand patients.

1983: Developed a low vision clinic in Marion, Indiana. It has grown over past thirteen years to serve partially- sighted patients throughout Indiana.

1984: Helped develop a comprehensive multidisciplinary preschool screening in Blackford County

1984: Developed with Drs. Hunter and Casser, the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease course which has grown to become an important course to update optometric therapeutic skills. It was also given in Georgia to prepare them for their therapeutic legislation.

1989: Developed with Dr. Morrow, the Medicare/Medicaid Update course. This course has become an important annual program to update doctors and assistants on changes in Medicare and Medicaid rules. Produced an annual 200+ page Medicare manual and update annually.

1991: Authored :The Management of Low Vision Patients Who are Homebound or in Long Term Health Care Facilities" in Lippincott's Problems in Optometry. It is the most comprehensive treatise on long vision care in the nursing home setting. It has been circulated by the AOA nationally.

1994: Developed with his associates, Drs. Fettig, Ford and Scott, the Vision Rehabilitation Clinic, a hospital based low vision and neuro-rehabilitation clinic with special emphasis in the rehabilitation of stroke and head injury patients.

1996: Became the first doctor of optometry to be awarded all four of the annual awards of the Indiana Optometric Association, Optometrist of the Year, President’s Citation (young OD of the year), Distinguished Service Award and the Meritorious Service Award twice.

1996: Developed the Primary Eye Care Brochure for the Indiana Optometric Association

1998: Developed the Low Vision Gateway to the Internet. It has grown to be one of the internet's largest resource for low vision.
