Safe Handling and Maintenance

coverfinished.gif (7208 bytes)

1. Clean the VES-AF telescope window and eyepiece lenses with an approved camera or eyeglass lens cleaning cloth.

2. NEVER place the system under water.

3. The eyepiece lens may become soiled with dirt or skin oil. This may markedly reduce clarity through the VES-AF. Clean the rear eyepiece lens routinely.

4. NEVER use abrasive materials or cleaners on any part of the VES-AF.

5. Clean the eyeglass carrier lenses (not telescope lenses) with wet fingers if required and dry with a clean lint-free cloth.

6. The VES-AF is front heavy and may slip forward on the nose and perhaps fall off the face. Elastic sport straps attached to the temples behind the head are often helpful to prevent slipping.

7. The VES-AF should not be shared with other persons. The effectiveness of the VES-AF is based upon its accurate fitting and adjustment. Use by other persons may place the unit out of adjustment, and an uninformed wearer may actually damage the VES-AF .

8. Do not leave the VES-AF in a hot car or in the trunk.

9. Carry your VES-AF with you. Do not check it with your luggage.

page5graphicn.gif (21857 bytes)10. Do not smoke while using the VES-AF. Tobacco smoke will damage the plastic and place unwanted coatings on the optics. Damage from tobacco smoke will void the warranty.

11. The VES-AF may be safely operated in temperatures between 32 and 120 degrees. You may use the VES-AF outside below 32 degrees but it should not be turned on- instead set its focus for beyond 20 feet and shut it off. Upon coming inside, wait until the VES-AF reaches room temperature before resuming powered operation.

12. Do not drop, strike, or throw this precision instrument.
