The VES-AF can be used while stationary or while moving. Generally, the VES-AF is intended to be an aid to the wearer's existing vision through the carrier lenses, not to replace that vision. The VES-AF can pose the greatest risk to the wearer when it is used while moving or while engaged in a dangerous activity. This is in part due to the narrower field of view of the telescope, and the exaggerated speed of moving objects while seen through the VES-AF. It should be removed when the activity with the VES-AF increases the risk of danger to the wearer. Consult your prescriber for additional information. The manufacturer makes no claims for the fitness of the VES-AF for any specific activity.
1. DO NOT continuously look through the VES-AF while:a. Walking, or traveling in unfamiliar or congested areas.
b. Coursing stairs, curbs, doorways, escalators, revolving doors, etc.
c. While engaged in operating power equipment, tools, or other potentially dangerous machines.
d. While looking at the sun (with or without the VES-AF)2. BE AWARE that the VES-AF will obscure some field of vision above the line of sight. Care should be taken to avoid objects such as low tree branches and the tops of door frames in automobiles.
3. DRIVING WITH THE VES-AF. Ocutech makes no claims regarding the fitness or appropriateness of its devices for driving. All such decisions rest solely with the prescriber, the patient, and the state licensing agency.
